In his latest cd, with Chopin’s Ballades and Impromptus, excellently recorded, he makes a radical choice, that of approaching the rhythm and the colors freely, as if he had just come upon them at the moment, scarcely a stylish thing, in times of dry meditation and flaunted rationality. A risky choice, but one that is sustained by a masterly equilibrium, an enthralling technique and spellbinding charm.
